During the Mandatory Palestine era, Chaim Topol was born in Tel Aviv (now Israel).
Between 1960 and 1964, Topol worked with the satirical theater troupe Batzal Yarok (also known as “Green Onion”), which also toured Israel.
Uri Zohar, Nechama Hendel, Zaharira Harifai, Arik Einstein, and Oded Kotler were additionally a part of the group.
Along with Yosef Milo, Topol co-founded the Haifa Municipal Theatre in 1960. He acted in plays by Brecht, Ionesco, and Shakespeare while serving as the director’s assistant.
He gave a performance in Tel Aviv’s Cameri Theatre in 1965.
