Daniel Radcliffes Toorak apartment bags an offer

HARRY Potter star Daniel Radcliffe’s Toorak pad has cast a spell on at least one prospective buyer.

Marshall White, Armadale, agent Marcus Chiminello said an interstate buyer made an offer on the three-bedroom apartment at 98B St Georges Rd late last week.

However, the offer was shy of expectations and negotiations are expected to continue.

$2.43 MILLION FOR FORMER SCOUT HALL

Mr Chiminello said the first inspections over the weekend were well-attended, but buyers turned out for the real estate value, rather than the celebrity factor.

Further inspections are scheduled for later this week, but potential buyers will need to make an appointment to take a peek.

The luxury apartment, which Radcliffe and his parents bought when he was in Australia filming the 2007 movie December Boys, was listed for sale last week with an asking price of about $2.5 million.

Mr Chiminello said the person who made the offer was looking for a part-time Melbourne base to replace the existing large part-time home they had in the city.

If they buy the apartment, they will get a swanky main bedroom with a large walk-in robe, but no cupboard under the stairs.

The apartment also has a butler’s pantry off the kitchen and a massive open-plan living zone that opens to a terrace.

People like to keep things private in Queenscliff.

But tongues will be wagging after the Queenscliff Hotel was listed for sale by private auction.

The circa 1887 Queen Anne-style building has a famous past, while Mietta O’Donnell was the host in the restaurant for many years.

The building has 16 rooms with ensuites, sitting rooms, library, bar and dining room and a breakfast room.

There is a commercial kitchen and a manager’s residence.

Listed with Abercromby’s the property will be sold on a walk-in, walk-out basis. Agent Andrew Harlock expects it to sell for more than $3.5 million.

While the hotel still has guests, the restaurant served its last meals on Christmas Day, following the death of Johann Schuetz, who had bought the property in 2001.

The property, at 16 Gellibrand St, will open for inspection by appointment on Friday. The private auction is on March 20.

The question “one shot or two” will have a whole new meaning when the historic Caulfield City Rifle Club building is transformed into a cafe-bar.

Built about 1915, the building at 294 Glen Huntly Rd, Elsternwick, will undergo a $1.5 million refurbishment that will be home to a cafe-bar run by the team behind Riverland in the historic vaults below Federation Square, The Boatbuilders Yard at South Wharf and the Wye River General Store and Cafe.

The site, next to the old post office and Elsternwick train station, is owned by VicTrack, which has submitted redevelopment plans to Glen Eira Council.

Under the plans, the old red-brick building will be refurbished and the rear of the site developed.

The cafe is planning to open in December.
