Hunter McCrary, a resident of Stevenson, reportedly passed away on Saturday at his aunt and uncle’s residence in Scottsboro, according to Nia Stivers, a teacher at North Jackson High School.
She claims that when the car rolled over Hunter, he was adjusting the brakes on his aunt’s car. Hunter McCrary, a student-athlete from North Jackson High School, was killed in a bizarre accident near Scottsboro.
McCrary’s passing was originally reported by Nia Stivers. Since Hunter was a young child, Stivers has known him and his family. She also taught him at Park Church.
Stivers leads Park Church, a teen church service that is held in the park on Sunday evenings.
Stivers claimed that Hunter loved to assist others and was always ready to do so. She stated he loved to sing in the choir, played basketball, and had a deep belief in God.
‘He seemed so content and happy,’ Stivers remarked. ‘His level of faith is exceptional for a 16-year-old. And he is transforming lives for the kingdom of God, perhaps even more so in death. I want people to know that about Hunter,’ she continued.
Hunter McCrary, a 16-year-old from Stevenson, Alabama, participated in basketball and football at North Jackson High School.
The North Jackson Chiefs Basketball released the following statement when he died on their Facebook page:
‘Today, a terrific young guy was lost by our basketball squad. Hunter McCrary was a kind and dependable teammate. He cared about everyone and had a heart of gold. Please offer prayers for his friends and family. Peace be with you, number 21, you will be sorely missed. Hunter, you are loved.’
His parents, Chad and Crystal McCrary, his brother, Jordan Eakin, his special brother, Jayden Eakin, his grandmothers, Susan Harbin and Jean McCrary, his aunt Melissa (Jason) Bowen, his uncle Mike (Stefanie) McCrary, his cousins, Oakleigh Bowen and Landon McCrary, as well as a large number of other family members, friends, church members, teammates, and classmates, are all left to mourn his passing.
His aunt Melinda McCrary and his grandparents Foy McCrary and Gerald Harbin predeceased him.
