Lewis Capaldi releases new track 'Before You Go'

Continuing his stratospheric rise to the top, Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi has unveiled a new track called ‘Before You Go’.

Describing it as “by far the most personal tune I’ve ever written”, ‘Before You Go’ is a heartbreaking release from Lewis which focuses on the aftermath of someone’s suicide. “So, before you go, was there something I could’ve said to make your heart beat better? If only I’d have known you had a storm to weather” Lewis sings during the melodic chorus, in a song which is bound to resonate with many.

Speaking about the song in further detail with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1, Lewis said: “The song’s kind of, it comes from a place of … it’s about suicide and it’s about no necessarily the act of it itself obviously, but people after it happens, the aftermath of it and people blaming themselves or starting to think, what could I have done to help that person?”

Recalling a personal story, he added: “When I was about five or six I think, my aunt committed suicide and just remember recently speaking to my mum about their feelings, her feelings about going through that sort of rigmarole in your head of, what could I have done here? Could I have done anything? Sort of thing. But she said it was the thing of, at first you’re angry. You’re obviously upset and then you kind of get angry at them, and then you get angry at yourself.”

‘Before You Go’ is taken from the deluxe version of Lewis’ chart topping album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which is due for release on November 22. The album will include two new songs called ‘Leaving My Love Behind’ and ‘Let It Roll’.

2019 has been quite the year for Lewis Capaldi and there seems to be no stopping this Scottish sensation. Among his many achievements this year, his hit single ‘Someone You Loved’ spent seven weeks at the top of the UK singles chart whilst it is currently spending its third week atop the US Billboard Hot 100.

Lewis also owns one of the biggest selling albums of the year and if you’ve bagged yourself a ticket to see him live, then consider yourself lucky. The ‘Bruises’ star has sold out both of his upcoming UK tours, with other shows across the world selling out too.

There’s no doubt that Lewis is ending 2019 on a high and we can’t wait to see even more of him throughout 2020.
